If there was an apple throwing tisch or a hero's welcome home, or a mass of rachmonus & curious sekers, or if everyone stayed clear so as not to be implicated, or fear of being sent on ilegal courier missions?
The courier missions can only have been illegal if the acts complained of were illegal, as opposed to either inappropriate for a seemingly chassidisha Rov or actually assur in halocha. About the latter there seems little doubt. About the illegality, we will have to wait and see. If the Police case was really strong, the famous four would already have been charged. That would have sent out a much clearer message than Mr Usher's declaration.

Here's a wild thought:
ReplyDeleteCould it be that RCH, fearing an adverse psak from the BD, somehow himself got the police involved, (knowing they can pin nothing criminal on him,) but thereby forcing the BD to stop their work. Then he will use the lack of police charges to prove he is innocent.
Even though we all know that you can be very unfit to be a Rov without having done anything technically criminal.

ReplyDeleteMost unlikely. Going to the police with no case to examine could lead to a charge of wasting their time. Also, from what has been reported, he and the others are being investigated for perverting the course of justice and the abuse issue appears to be a secondary concern.
Even if the police have insufficient evidence to charge him, the fact that he has been arrested looks very bad in the "no smoke without fire" scenario. It is of course a terrible chillul Hashem and that cannot be undone.
And finally, the police are examining matters based on UK law, not halacha. Thus for example, if he contravened the issurim of yichud, this would not be within the scope of any police investigation, but would certainly be something that will trouble the BD.
So a clean bill from the police will not - or should not - have any consequences for the BD.
Very strange.. the chaimhalpernconspiracy.blogspot.co.uk is extremely quiet since Friday... is he also one of the guys that has been warned by the police?

ReplyDeleteGlad that this blog is not a slurry pit like the blog ifyoutickleus has become. I don't understand this guy. Does he not have any conscience? Does he not have children of his own? Does he not realize that drip feeding and exposing children, teenagers and unexposed adults to a daily dose of apikorses will likely mess them up for years and possibly for life. Sure there are issues with orthodox leadership, but writing and tweeting and publishing links of every heretical essay around to be read by people who don't have the tools to deal with it is unforgivable. This is unbelievably evil. I have heard that he is actually a so called chossid.
