Israeli teens laid to rest

  1. הי"ד
It is a major tragedy for all of klal Yisrael.

Unfortunately, the times we live in, there is a lack of morals and an abundance of depravity. Both amongst the secular and, tragically, in frum circles too.

This means that hitchhiking is not an option. A hiker is putting himself in the hands of an unknown person, and that person has much more control over you.

It has been an acceptable mode of movement for many years in Israel, initially by soldiers. However, of late it is being used by teenagers, particularly of the dati sectorof society. For these kids it's a saving on the bus fare and a saving on travel time.

Is that worth risking your life? I don't think it is.

I do believe that the transportation infrastructure needs improving, buses and trains need additional subsidies so that they remain a viable option even for low income families, and the public transport companies need encouragement to improve the frequency and lengthen the operational hours, to meet the changing lifestyles of society.

Tragic though these murders are, I am surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

  2. This ought to be on your blog. Gaby Lock and his wife are making a play about Chaim Halpern and his women. He is expecting a kedassia hechsher for it.
