Shame is a word which is difficult to define clearly, generally accepted to lie somewhere between embarrassment and guilt. Shame is a violation of cultural or social values.
RBPR has no regard for cultural or social values, he also believes that everything he does is the right and only way.
It is highly unlikely that he would hang his head in shame, or that he considers any of his recent actions - or lack thereof - as being a cause or reason for his retirement.
As long as the Dr Mengeles at HAYC use this opportunity to appoint a young, dynamic and community minded rabbi as his replacement, maybe, just maybe, the shul will turn itself around and attract sufficient regular mispallelim to warrant its continued existence. Having glanced at the names of the selection committee, I fear that the trustees of the HAYC will be obliged to shut the charity and dispose of its assets, in the not too distant future.
To the Towelgate blogger, a big mazal tov. Whether you reached a million visitors or not, you have provided an essential public service, and you get a well deserved יישר כחך.
