The Satmar United Talmudical Academy yeshiva in Kiryas Joel expelled about 150 boys, apparently without reason, prompting rioting in the village and a rebellion against the Kiryas Joel Satmar Rebbe Rabbi Aharon Teitelbaum.
The expelled boys ransacked cars, broke car and home windows and scattered leaflets attacking the Kiryas Joel Satmar Rebbe, calling him a "fraud" and "corrupt," around the village. Among the cars and homes vandalized were those belonging to Rebbe's Gabbai, personal assistant.
An email was sent to all Satmar households that recounts the run-up to the violence and that complains that the Rebbe has been "hijacked" by a handful of rich people and is unable to function.

ReplyDeleteOn the other hand if they really expelled 150 bochurim, unless they are foreign citizens, they probably had a combination of government programs to the effect of $25K per head. If so all the expellees really need to do as revenge is go register at some other college.
As soon as they fill out paper work for them, KJ will have to lose a lot of money.May even get some type of audit & who knows what follows. Now that hurts business is business. I highly doubt they stopped claiming programs for them, that wouldn't be Satmar mentality.
IMHO.
As far as I recall R'Yoel ZY"A was against throwing any one out of yeshiva even the biggest shkotzim, but here again, today's satmar has nothing to do with him.
Ch would welcome these boys in his shul with open arms

ReplyDelete'apparently without any reason'. Have any Jewish journalists asked if there was any reason? Do thse boys live locally in Kiryas Yoel? If so where are they supposed to go to school? Any word from the Rebbe?
