Sources tell News 12 that Rockland County real estate developer Moses Stern has been cooperating with the FBI for nearly two years, and helped lead to the arrests of six local politicians.
Stern, of Monsey, allegedly worked as an FBI informant and assisted in the bureau's undercover operation. The focus was initially on Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin and Deputy Mayor Joseph Desmaret, but widened to include four others linked to bribery and other crimes.
However, authorities say Stern has a shaky financial history and owes more than $120 million to Citigroup.
In addition, Stern pleaded guilty in March to unspecified charges apparently related to the corruption case. It is unclear whether he will serve any jail time.
